There are a number of steps necessary for this to function correctly in version 9.6 or greater. Follow these and you'll be ready to create a feature item, complete with options.
- First, ensure all of the feature items exist. Use your standard procedures for new item creation.
- Navigate to the Item in question. You should see /ItemForm.aspx?Item=XXXXXX or /ItemOneida.aspx?Item=XXXXXX in the URL (where XXXXXX is the item number.)
- Edit the Item.
- In the URL, you should see /Inventory/ItemEdit.aspx?ItemNo=XXXXXX (where XXXXXX is the item number.)
- Click on the Item Setup tab on the left.
- On the right column, change the Item Type to Feature Item.
- NOTE: If you are do not want this item to immediately become a feature item (for example, it is currently a Kit Item), you can skip this step and still add Feature Options below.
- On the left, Pricing Method will appear once you change the item to a Feature Item (or your item is a Kit Item). Use the same rules for Kit Items. Below are the standard:
- Pricing Method should be Rollup with Parent (providing you want the price of the features to stack with the core item).
- Cost Method should be Item Location.
- Click on the Feature tab on the left.
Add the Feature Options and Item
- Click on Add Feature.
- This will cause the Feature popup to appear.
- Feature No will be auto-generated and can be ignored.
- Input the description.
- If Required, click the checkbox.
- If there is a Minimum amount of items in this feature, input that in the field.
- If there is a Maximum amount of items in this feature, input that in the field.
- Click on Add Option to begin adding options.
- This will cause the Feature Option to appear.
- As before, Feature Option No will be auto-generated and can be ignored.
- Click on the Search to locate the appropriate Feature Option.
- On the Search popup, input the item description or item number, then search. Click on the correct item.
- If there are multiple quantities per this parent, input that in the Qty Per Parent.
- Click the checkbox for Allow Qty Change if you want the customer to be able to alter the quantity.
- Click Save.
- Repeat this Add Option for each option to be added for this feature.
- Make sure to click on Apply Changes to save your work!
- Click Save and Close once you've finished adding all of the options for this feature.
- This takes you back to the Feature option. Repeat the above to add new options.
- Save and Close once you are done.
